What to see in Capri island
Capri is a island with a huge history and every step here has something remarkable. Above all it is a fashionable resort with famous guests (since ancient ages from Emperior Tiberius), main square Piazzeta called ‘the small theatre of the world’. - Villa San Michele — villa of Axel Munte (read The Story of San Michele). A foot path goes to Capri from the villa. Opens 9:00 to 18:00, April, October to 17.00. March to 16.30, January. February, November. December to 15.30
- Monte Solaro chair lift — highest point of Capry island with stunning views. A foot path goes to Capri from Monte Solaro. Opens 9:30 to 17:30,March, April to 16.30, to 16.30, — February — November to 15.30
- San Michele church opens: April — September 9:00 to 19:00, October — March 10:00 to 15:00, 27 November — 8 December closed, piazza San Nicola Square, chiesa-san-michele.com
- The Blue Grotto — is famous since ancient ages with own legends. Now every tourist come to see its brightly blue shine (when the weather is clear).The gtotto has a small cave mouth so you can get inside lying down on boat bottom when the boat driver take the rowboat in with holding on a metal chain attached to the cave. It is not allowed to swim there and get inside by swimming in case of safety due to danger of slamming swimmers by wave against low cave mouth walls. - Casa Rossa with ancient Roman statues founded in Blue Grotto — the cave was marina temple. Opens 10:00 to 13:30, 16:30 to 20:00, Monday closed
- Faraglioni — Stella, Faraglione di Mezzo, Faraglione di Fuori or Scopolo — rocks- nature landmarks, visit card of Capri island.
- Sunsets — you can see sea sunsets from Anacapri
Capri (town) main sights
- Piazzetta -Piazza Umberto I — famous the island square with main Capri active life
- Augustus garden not large but famous and with stunning views garden. Opens 9:00 to 19:30, November — March to 16:30
- Via Krupp — an ancient foot path goes from Augustus garden down to Marina Piccola district, on the way you can get to a beach. It has spectacular views, wear a good shoes.
- Arco Naturale — nature creature, huge arch in rock. Capri visit card
- Villa Jovis — Emperior Tiberius’ island residence. From the Piazzetta ( about 45 min walk) go the length of Via Longano, then along Via Sopramonte and Via Tiberio. Opens 10:00 to 19:00, October to 17:00 — everyday, November, December, 15 March — May to 16:00 — Tuesday closed. January — 14 March closed. To entry — 30 min less. Attention! Check all timetables at info-points in Marina Grande or in Piazzetta.
Transport on Capri island
- Buses go at Anacapri, Capri, connect them — it’s very convenient because of no need to climb up every time — the roads everywhere are up-down on the island. There is an abonnement too. Buses go since minimum 5:00 to maximum 24:00 — the schedule depends on concrete route
- Capri funicular — it is a funicular railway, connects Marina Grande port with Piazzetta (Piazza Umberto I) open 6:25 to 21:20 from Marina Grande, since 6:00 from Capri
- Ferry and boats — from Marina Grande go to Naples bay cities and Ischia, Amalfi coast, From Marina Piccola port go around the Island, also you can rent a boat there.
